Celebrate Adult Learners' Week at University Centre Hastings

09.05.2005

To celebrate Adult Learners’ Week, UCH has organised a selection of events designed for adults wanting to learn new skills.

UCH is holding a drop in day on Saturday 21 May from 9am - 12 noon with an exhibition of the courses available with staff on hand to answer questions. On Tuesday 24 May from 10am - 4:30pm lecturers will be running an open day with free taster sessions for courses that include internet computing and foundation degrees in tourism and business management, and which could enable people to change their career or simply pursue a new interest. Throughout the day there will also be talks by the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Sussex and the Open University.

The sessions will also give people a chance to see the brand new atrium entrance to the building and the modern facilities that are available. UCH is a unique higher education centre created by Sea Space and managed by the University of Brighton combining the knowledge and expertise of its academic partners. It offers a wide range of subjects available at different levels including foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and professional qualifications are also available.

Margaret Wallis, head of co-ordination and development for the centre said:

"Learning is something that can transform your life at any age or stage. If you had a bad time at school it might put you off learning forever. But the message at UCH is that returning to learning can be fun - as well as providing stepping stones to change your life for the better. It’s never too late to start learning and now is your chance to take the first step."

Adult Learners' Week runs from May 15 - 22 and is the perfect opportunity for adults to have a free taste of learning with something to suit everyone.
