Forget the Ideal Home Exhibition – if you want to see the latest 'must have' household products and designs then come to the University Of Brighton’s new designers show at the Brighton Library, on Saturday 4 June from 9am – 3pm.
A host of talented young designers will display some exciting and truly original work to the industry, the public and the media. The university’s emerging talents include Tom Lorton and Imogen Lawson.
Tom has designed a beautiful yet practical lamp (pictured top right), which includes electrical sockets as a simple solution to controlling power in the home. The sockets also glow red depending on how much electricity is being used, encouraging users to be more energy efficient.
Imogen has designed a new concept in dining which will fit into any home (pictured bottom right). The dining table, which incorporates a cooking griddle, a hot plate and chopping-board, makes cooking and eating a truly sociable experience.
Course Leader Richard Morris said
"This is a chance for the public and industry to see the next generation of designers. It is an exhibition of truly fresh creative talent, delivering an event brimming with innovation."
The students will also be displaying their products again at the national New Designers exhibition at the Business Design Centre, Islington, London, from 7 July - 10 July. Visit www.newdesigners.com for further information and tickets.
