Brighton scores high for website

21.06.2005

The University of Brighton has been named as having one of the best university websites in the country. The survey conducted by Intelligent Research and published in today's Guardian sampled two groups of first-year sixth formers and asked them to find information on university and college websites.

The students were asked for their first impressions: was the site visually attractive, with a good balance of text and pictures? Did it give a good feel for the institution? Did they agree: "This is a cool site"? Was it easy to find their way around? Students were also given exactly a minute to find some specific information, information on fees and bursaries; and something about the local area.

Pro Vice-Chancellor, Colin Monk said: "The University of Brighton’s site has been recently redesigned to make it much more user-friendly and respond to the increased levels of interest and applications that we are receiving. New sections include student life, living here and a comprehensive guide to costs and money management and aims to make key information as accessible as possible to students."
