The University of Brighton, has launched a new accommodation development, at the Welkin site, Eastbourne. The multi-million pound complex will accommodate 354 students, all bedrooms have en-suite facilities with groups of six rooms sharing dining and kitchen areas. Collectively known as Welkin Halls, there are three blocks - Berwick, Glynde and Jevington.

The project which was overseen by the estates and facilities department, took 18 months to complete and was delivered by private partner Servite Houses. The new accommodation will also include 24-hour security, laundry facilities and storage for bikes.

"Students come to the university from across the country and around the world, and we are proud to offer them comfortable, modern facilities in which they can fully realise their academic potential," said Director of Estate and Facilities Management, Rod Mallinder.

"The construction of student housing facilities is part of an overall strategic plan and reflects the success we've achieved in creating a campus at Eastbourne that meets the evolving needs of our students."
