The reputation of the University of Brighton as a leading provider of high quality teacher training was confirmed by recent Ofsted inspections. The quality and management of secondary courses gained the highest possible grade and all primary provision retained its category 'A' rating.
The quality of Brighton's provision means that it is one of the few universities currently accredited by the DfES to offer teacher training 'Fast Track' routes for exceptional candidates. Its high reputation for teaching also attracts applicants from across the UK to train as teachers.
Paul Griffiths, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Sport at the University said: "I'm delighted that the quality of the university's work in teacher education has been formally recognised. It is down to the commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism of staff and students that these results have been achieved. The effective partnership between the university, schools and colleges across the South of England where students gained the practical experience of teaching has also helped gain these exceptional inspection results."
Professor Julian Crampton, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Brighton commented: "The university has an outstanding national reputation in this area, and is making a very important contribution to the provision of teachers in the immediate community and the region."
The University of Brighton is one of the largest providers of teacher education in the country, and offers a full range of courses including 4 year and 2 year honours degree programmes and Postgraduate Certificates in Education (PGCE) courses for graduate entry.
