International entrepreneur shares his expertise

13.01.2006

Internationally renowned professor of entrepreneurship, Professor Allan Gibb (pictured right), will share his wealth of expertise with students at an event called 'What it’s really like to be an entrepreneur' which takes place at the University of Brighton on 17 January.

Professor Gibb, a well-known speaker and author, is currently a professor at the University of Durham and will talk about what it's like to live the life of an entrepreneur and coming up with the winning idea.

He has worked in the field of entrepreneurship development for more than 30 years in over 80 countries throughout the world. His experience, interests and publications cover virtually all aspects of this field, from the development of enterprise culture at all levels in education, to business start-up, survival and growth, to large company restructuring and entrepreneurship. His great interest is bridging the gap between concept and practice.

Professor Gibb said: "It is vital that Higher Education is used as a national resource for stimulating an enterprising culture among undergraduates, some of whom may become the future entrepreneurial base of the UK, running their own businesses or creating entrepreneurial environments and opportunities. This is why I'm so pleased to be invited to the University of Brighton to run the entrepreneurial masterclass for students."

"It's tough being a young entrepreneur," said Jane L. North who runs the university's Beepurple masterclasses for aspiring entrepreneurs. "You have to really want it badly, believe in your idea and yourself, and work tirelessly."

The event is sponsored by SEEDA's HEEG and is a partnership project between the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex.
