10.03.2006

Marketing and Business graduate from the university, Jason Lovelock, will be managing Oxfam's new flagship boutique in London's Mayfair. The store selling quality menswear will now be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Gucci and Armani.

Jason, a self-confessed fashionista will oversee the store's 20 volunteer staff including London College of Fashion students. The stock has been handpicked and stockpiled by these volunteers from generous public donations made to all of Oxfam's London stores over the last six months.

The shop will sell a range of donated menswear from Diesel to Hermes. One-off items included Versace suits, cashmere Burberry sweaters and Tod's loafers and customers will be able to find some real one-off bargains, look stylish as well as helping Oxfam to fight poverty.

Jason who graduated from the university this year is also a product specialist in menswear for the charity and advises store managers up and down the country about trends and how best to source and sell products.

Jason said: "The job is really enjoyable, but tough. My degree has really assisted me in my new role as it has helped develop my marketing skills which are vital in this job.  The course also covered human resources in depth which has helped in managing and motivating the unpaid, volunteer staff."

Whilst at university, Jason worked at the Oxfam store in Brighton for three years. "It's incredibly rewarding to work as a volunteer for a charity such as Oxfam. I would highly recommend it to students not only as a way of giving something back to the community but also as a means of gaining vital work experience so you stand out from the crowd when you graduate."

"Charities such as Oxfam are always on the look out for enthusiastic volunteers who are willing to commit time to helping a good cause."
