Top British designer lends a hand

09.03.2007

Respected designer Wayne Hemingway will give a talk at the University of Brighton on Monday 12 March to help raise funds for final-year product design students.

The talk has been organised by product design students from the School of Engineering through their Brighton University Design Association (BUDA). Students hope to raise funds for their final-year exhibitions, which will be unveiled later this year.

Co-founder of designer label Red or Dead, Wayne Hemingway will give the audience a rare insight into the clothing and footwear company, which began in 1982 on a small market stall in Camden, London and came to receive global acclaim in the fashion industry.

Now at the helm of hemingwaydesign, a design and housing project, Hemingway will talk about this pioneering project. He will also discuss his latest venture, Land of Lost Content, the world's largest electronic archive of twentieth and twenty-first century popular culture.

There is no formal charge but donations on the door, recommended at £3, are suggested to contribute to the costs of the students' own design show. If you are planning to attend please confirm your interest by logging onto: http://buda.bizhat.com.

The talk is between 1.30pm and 4pm on 12 March 2007 in Cockcroft Hall, Moulsecoomb campus.
