University high in Guardian subject rankings

The latest Guardian league tables out today ranks the university as the second best place in the country to study tourism, transport and travel. The rankings look at staff, spend per student, student staff ratio, student feedback, value added as well as job prospects.
 
Overall five subject areas at the university were considered to be amongst the top performers in the country. The following all feature in the top 20 this year:

  • Tourism, transport and travel (2)
  • Sports science (14)
  • Pharmacy and pharmacology (18)
  • Architecture (19)
  • Engineering: general (20)

The Guardian's university guide also noted that Brighton's "varied degrees have a strong professional focus - 94% of undergraduate courses have opportunities for work-based learning - with good graduate employment rates".

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Julian Crampton said: "This is good news for us as a university and a boost for our courses and the academic staff that teach them".
