Bigger Bang III: a fistful of test tubes - an explosive, fun and colourful science show demonstrating the power of chemistry
Tickets are now on sale for the University of Brighton's most spectacular Christmas chemistry show to date: The Bigger Bang III. Taking place on 10 December at the Brighton Dome, this year’s show has a Wild West theme and sees Dr Hal Sosabowski, lecturer at the university pitted against his science arch enemy 'The Doc' from the children's hit TV programme, 'Ministry of Mayhem'.
Breathtaking experiments, the likes you will never see anywhere else in the world, will include the barking coyote – nitrous oxide and carbon disulfide are mixed in a seven-foot test tube to send a bright blue flume into space which will cause a huge 'woofing noise' with amazing results.
Dr Hal will also create methane rattle snakes and phosphorous jellyfish as well as exploding ostrich eggs live on stage. New experiments include chemical levitation, the ferrofluid hedgehog and the team will also be exploding wheelie bins!
Through this unique show performed live in front of 3,000 students, families and school pupils, Dr Hal aims to convey two important messages – chemistry is important in everyday life and is an interesting career choice.
"Chemistry and the related sciences are essential to our lives and I believe will be instrumental in tackling effectively some of the biggest challenges that face us in the future," said Dr Hal. "There is a national shortage of students studying science subjects and I hope that this show will help to inspire the budding young scientists of the future."

Hosted by Dr Hal Sosabowski from the University of Brighton and 'The Doc' from ITV's Ministry of Mayhem.
