Success, by design

The Apprentice has come to the world of product design in a new BBC2 series, Design For Life, featuring a recent BA(Hons) 3D design graduate Michael Cloke (pictured below).
Determined to shake up the world of British design, enfant terrible of product design Philippe Starck, invited open applications for places on a school of design he is setting up in Paris. Hundreds of would-be British designers applied and Starck whittled them down to the best 12, including Brighton graduate, Michael.
The first episode aired on Monday 14 September with Michael making it through the first round to the final 10. Make sure you follow Michael's endeavours on Mondays at 9pm. Design For Life follows the fortunes of students who must battle it out to impress Starck. At the end of the series, one lucky British designer will be rewarded with a six-month placement at his design agency.
Cloke says he is eager to work with Starck because of the way he has adapted his philosophy of design and now believes in designing less in order to help achieve a sustainable planet.
