Book launch: Me and the Teehee Monkey
Published 7 October 2009
Former children's poet laureate Michael Rosen launched a poetry book written by children to mark the university's School of Education's centenary. The event took place at the Jubilee library in Brighton.
The School of Education, which provides highly-acclaimed education courses for primary and secondary schools, marked its 100th birthday by asking primary and secondary school pupils to contribute to a poetry book 'Me and the Teehee Monkey'.
Michael and some of the budding poets read poems to 250 adults and children who attended.
Michael said "I am very impressed by the poems written by the young people here. The book is full of pictures and moments conjured up by original ways of saying things."
Philippa Bandurek, one of the event organisers, said: "It was a great success and congratulations are due to all the children with poems in the book."
