Love and climate change

Published 13 April 2010
Event 21 April 2010

Global warming is changing more than just the weather architecture is also affected.

Susannah Hagan, Professor of Urban Studies at the university, is giving a lecture 'True Love? Architecture and Nature', examining the way in which design has been falling in and out of love with nature for centuries: "The relationship is a given, but sometimes it has been flaunted and sometimes vehemently denied.

"The line between climate change and a technology-driven eco architecture is therefore just one expression of the current reassessment of architecture's relationship to nature."

Her lecture, free to the public, will be given during a Royal Institute of British Architects' afternoon of debates on climate change at the university's Watts building (room 314), in Lewes Road, Brighton, starting at 2pm on 21 April.
