Great graduation!

Ruth Palmer
University of Brighton graduation week was a double celebration for Ruth Palmer who gained a BA(Hons) first in International Hospitality Management plus the Croner Prize for achievements in her final year.
Her family was at the Brighton Dome for the presentation, including her 79-year-old grandfather Francis Walmsley who gained first class honours in English Literature in his 30s, specialising in Anthony Trollope.
He said he valued education above all and was overjoyed to find that his first grandchild, and only granddaughter had gained a first too
He was head of English at a secondary school all of his working career after graduating.
Ruth, 21, has two younger brothers, one reading Mechanical Engineering and the other starting A levels. All went to Newman School in Hove.

Chihiro Kyozuka
Chihiro Kyozuka from Chiba near Toykyo, received her BA(Hons) in Illustration – wearing a traditional kimono, a hand-me-down from her grandmother and mother.
She chose Brighton because of its reputation and said she “thoroughly enjoyed” her time at the university.
