Touch screen studies
Published 27 February 2012
Students for the first time can study and check on course updates and modules from anywhere and at any time in studentcentral.
The University of Brighton has launched 'Blackboard Mobile' app that offers interactive learning and teaching via touch-screen mobile devices including smart phones, iPad, Android and Blackberries.
The free app provides access to announcements, lecture notes, project information, homework assignments, and allows students to take part in discussions, blogs and journals.
Dr Katie Piatt, the university's eLearning Services Manager, said: "We have purchased Blackboard mobile and are offering it free to students and staff so they will have more opportunity to engage with their online course materials.
"The use of web-enabled phones and tablets by students is steadily increasing and this trend is changing the way they interact and access information.
"The University of Brighton recognises the advantages that mobile devices are bringing to the world of learning and it is important we embrace the improved communications that they offer."
