Be a part of the future

Published 12 March 2012

What should the University of Brighton's priorities, values and aspirations be? In an increasingly competitive climate what are the main challenges for the future?

The university is inviting staff, students, alumni, and partners to take part in a consultation on its new strategic plan to shape the university's immediate future. Although the plan covers specific high level targets and objectives for the next three years, these will be set in the context of a larger, 10-year mission.

The new plan will succeed the university's current corporate plan, launched in 2007, which runs out at the end of this year and will take us from 2013 to 2016.

Professor Julian Crampton, Vice-Chancellor, said "The university is a financially sound institution, with a broad range of academic and professional courses and a growing reputation for its research and economic and social engagement. This positions us well as we respond to an environment of upheaval and uncertainty. We want to encourage everyone with a stake in how the university develops to take part and give their views on the way forward."

The consultation, open from Monday 12 March until Thursday 5 April 2012, can be accessed on www.brighton.ac.uk/strategicplan.

All the responses to the consultation will be considered carefully and the new plan should be finalised towards the end of the year.
