Town planner honoured
Published 10 October 2012
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has awarded Dr Samer Bagaeen, a chartered town planner and course leader for the masters course in Town Planning at the University of Brighton, a Fellowship by Invitation. The award recognises his expertise in the areas of land, property and construction.
The RICS is the world's leading professional body for qualifications and standards in land, property and construction, and personal invitations to fellowship are only offered to a small group of individuals each year. The usual process involves members having to complete an assessment programme before being reviewed and granted Fellowship by Achievement.
The invitation honours Dr Bagaeen's standing in the profession in addition to his dedication to and support for the RICS. He is also a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy where he is also an academic associate.
Dr Samer Bagaeen leads the university's masters in Town Planning, a one-year programme accredited by both the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. The course counts both planners and property professionals amongst its alumni.
Dr Bagaeen said: "I am delighted and honoured to have been personally acknowledged by the RICS in this way."
