Brighton Research Festival brings world-leading experts to the city

As part of its commitment to develop research which engages with issues of major real-world significance, the University of Brighton is offering a unique opportunity to hear three world-leading authorities speak on social sciences, arts and science during the Brighton Festival of Research.
Professor Julian Crampton, the University of Brighton's Vice-Chancellor, said: "Each of the three speakers is an innovative and widely-acclaimed authority in his field and it is a great privilege for us to host these events. We very much look forward to welcoming them to the university."
The Festival of Research forms part of the Brighton Fringe. There is no charge but admission is by ticket only.
Dr Etienne Wenger
Learning in landscapes of practice: recent developments in social learning theory
Dr Etienne Wenger, an established international authority on 'communities of practice' in social learning, and recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Science from the University of Brighton, will be speaking at the university's Checkland Building at Falmer, on 1 May.

Sir Mark Moody-Stuart
Natural resource development and developing economies
On 8 May, Sir Mark Moody-Stuart, will be speaking at the university's Huxley Building in Moulsecoomb, Brighton.
Sir Mark served as non-executive chairman of the global energy company Anglo American PLC until 2009 and has since been Chairman of Hermes Equity Ownership Services. He has enjoyed a high-profile career in global industry (Shell) and is active in UN-level debates on sustainability.

Sir Christopher Frayling
Slaying the sixth giant: The arts and aspiration
And on 22 May, Sir Christopher Frayling, educationalist and writer, known for his study of popular culture and as a presenter of TV series including The Face of Tutankhamun, will be giving a talk at the University's Sallis Benney Theatre in Grand Parade, Brighton.
A Cambridge history graduate, Sir Christopher has an Honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Brighton.
