Event 1 May 2013
Dr Etienne Wenger, an international authority on 'communities of practice', is to speak at a free-to-the-public event at the University of Brighton.
"Learning in landscapes of practice: recent developments in social learning theory" is on 1 May and starts at 6.30pm at the university’s Checkland Building at Falmer.
A popular keynote speaker at venues around the world, Dr Wenger helps organisations develop their own communities to improve learning, ideas sharing, trust and efficiency.
His speciality, social learning, focuses on how people can connect in new ways, how they break down silos and turn organisational strategy into action. Social learning strategies and building communities of practice are key concerns for organisational leaders, educators, government, voluntary organisations and anyone who works with a team of people.
Dr Wenger's talk is part of the Brighton Fringe and the University of Brighton's Festival of Research.
Professor Julian Crampton, University of Brighton Vice-Chancellor, said: "Dr Wenger is a widely-acclaimed expert in his field and we are delighted he has taken time to share his passion and experience on learning and its potential to transform individuals, organisations and society."
The university welcomes visitors and the public to attend this free event. Tickets are available from the Fringe box office.
