Students' Union

The University of Brighton Students' Union (UBSU) provides services and facilities including: entertainment, sports clubs, societies, trading outlets and administration.

Join the Students' Union and get a copy of the handbook and your Students' Union card. Or you can download the handbook from the union's website www.brightonsu.com.

Campus offices

The union has offices and representatives at Eastbourne, Falmer, Grand Parade, Moulsecoomb and Hastings. Union representatives include elected officers and established staff as well as casual staff drawn from the student membership.

Students' Union offices are open during term time Monday to Friday (check with individual sites for opening times) and offer services including: fax and photocopier facilities, ticket sales, bookings, student cards, clubs and societies mail, general enquiries and information as well as access to elected sabbatical officers and specialist staff.

NUS Extra is the premium discount and membership card for students. The NUS Extra Card helps you make the most of student life. The card includes exclusive discounts for students worth hundreds of pounds, plus special offers and competitions. NUS Extra helps you save lots of money each year. NUS Extra is only available to students.

Go to www.nusextra.co.uk to get your NUS Extra Card. You will need a Visa or debit card (the card costs £10) and a digital photo of yourself to upload, or you can use a web cam. Then just follow the instructions and your NUS Extra card will be waiting for you at your chosen Students' Union office when you arrive at university.

For £1.00 more you can also have the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) added to your Extra Card. This entitles you to more than 40,000 discounts around the world.

Cardholders can expect to save a lot of money and enjoy great opportunities such as competitions and special offers. Discounts and deals have been arranged to support all students, whether you're under 21, mature or an international student. You can be sure to save the initial investment of £10 many times over.

In accordance with the Education Act 1994, students have the right to opt out of membership of the Students' Union.

To opt out of Students' Union membership, please write to the university's Registrar and Secretary, within 28 days of the start of term or your enrolment at university, whichever is later.
