Repeat study

If you have failed some or all a year, you may not have to leave the university.

You are usually given the opportunity to repeat work you have failed. (This, however, is at the discretion of the Examination Board). Speak to your personal tutor or course leader to discuss the situation.

For further information see the guidelines set out in the Student Handbook - or in the General Examination & Assessment Regulations (GEAR) Section C.

Mitigating circumstances

  • If you feel that your performance in an assessment has been adversely affected by circumstances beyond your control, you may wish to apply for mitigating circumstances. You will need to ensure that this application is submitted to the course Examination Board/Chair of the Examining Board in good time.
  • If you have a disability or suspect you may have a disability that may have had an impact on your study, contact the Disability and Dyslexia team as soon as possible.
