Housing
Your landlord/Utilities
- If you are living in university halls or university managed housing, you should contact the accommodation office i
n writing and let them know when you are leaving, as you will not be eligible for university accommodation once you have left your course. - You will be liable for the rent until someone else moves in (see consequences of leaving: accommodation).
- If your room is not clean and tidy or has been damaged in some way you risk having charges raised against you.
- If you are living in halls you will need to return your keys to the hall's reception.
- If you are living in private rented accommodation and are planning on moving out when you have left your course, you need to refer to your tenancy agreement to find out how much notice you are committed to giving. Also, don't forget to let your utility companies know that you are moving out and settle bills with housemates.
- Once you are no longer a student you will need to start paying Council Tax.
