Finance

  • Many students will be balancing their own finances for the first time, and with high food and fuel prices, this can be difficult to manage.
  • Many students need to work during their studies, though the university does not recommend that students work more than 15 hours during term time.

How you can help

  • Students commonly experience problems with finances. Students should be encouraged to consider their weekly and monthly budgets very carefully.
  • The university can help students find part-time work, as well as offer advice and guidance on money management, and additional sources of income.
  • If they are experiencing difficulty, they should visit a Student Advice Service adviser immediatelymoney jigsaw
  • Have a look at the Money Matters website for information on student finance.
  • There is some limited support available for some students with unforeseeable financial emergencies to help them remain on their course in times of difficulty. Student advisers can also check that students are receiving everything to which they are entitled.
