What’s on

Subject desks: for all courses.  An opportunity for you to meet academic staff and current students, find out about course content and admissions criteria and ask your own questions.

Subject talks: many subject areas will also offer a talk outlining course content and structure, placement and career opportunities. Times for subject talks are found in the 'Subject talks' section below. Please make sure you get tickets for the subject talk of your choice when you register on arrival. These talks are extremely popular and, in the interests of fairness, tickets will be limited to one guest ticket per student.

Registration

Visitors for Architecture and Business courses including; Accounting, Finance, Economics and Law - On arrival please make your way to the registration desks in Mithras house restaurant.

For all other courses – On arrival please make your way to the registration desks in Cockcroft Hall, Cockcroft Building.

Both registrations open from 9:30am - 2:00pm

Student ambassadors

Look out for some of our current students, wearing blue t-shirts, who will be happy to give directions and answer your questions about living and studying here.

Student funding and accommodation in Brighton

This session will provide information on the national Student funding packages for 2013 entry and the bursary and scholarship opportunities available at Brighton, the different options for student accommodation and the university’s allocation policy for halls of residence accommodation for first year students.

Advice for potential students given by current students: a short presentation on what to expect from student life in Brighton covering the following issues:

  • Where students live
  • What students do in their spare time
  • Studying and working part-time, what part-time work is available and how much it pays
  • How much it costs to live and study in Brighton
  • What to expect in the first week of university

Advice desks

In the Students Union Cafe, ground floor Cockcroft Building, you will find a range of advice desks that you can visit throughout the day; staff will be on hand to answer your questions about services including the following:

  • Accommodation - halls, university managed and private sector options
  • Careers - career planning, part-time work
  • Student advice service - money, disability, welfare and wellbeing
  • Mature students information desk- current students available to share their experiences
  • Students' Union - clubs, societies and student representation

  • Admissions – admissions processes and entry requirements

Tours

There will be regular student-led tours of our halls of residence, library and sport and fitness facilities throughout the day.

Halls of Residence: Students Union Cafe, ground floor Cockcroft Building.
Sport and recreation facilities: from the foyer of the Cockcroft Gym, located off the quadrant of the Cockcroft Building.
Library: starting from the mezzanine floor, Cockcroft Building.

Science Labs: starting from the foyer of the Huxley Building.
