Based in the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics from £31,948 to £38,140 per annum You will be a key member of a specialist team engaged in research on the collaborative project entitled ‘Molecular dynamics simulation of complex molecules using quantum-chemical potentials: application to modelling fuel droplets’. The project is supported by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and is focused on the development of analytical and numerical models for molecular heat and mass transfer, taking into account quantum-mechanical effects. You should have a good (1 or 2:1) degree in quantum chemistry and a relevant post-graduate qualification/PhD or an equivalent level of professional experience. Competence in analytical and numerical modelling of heat and mass transfer and evaporation/condensation at molecular dynamics, kinetic and hydrodynamics levels, taking into account quantum mechanical effects, and the related processes is essential. You will also have good oral and written communication skills in English. Secondment to the Finance Department- Contract Accountant An opportunity for a 6 month secondment to the Finance Department as a Contract Accountant (Grade 6) is available. We are seeking an individual who is interested in developing their knowledge of financial administration and accounting, which would be ideal for a member of staff who has completed their accounting technician qualification (or equivalent) and is looking to consolidate this with hands on experience. The role is principally concerned with the pre and post award management of research grants and contracts and will involve approving the costing of projects / submissions, accounting for income and expenditure, reporting financial performance, preparing grant claim submissions and providing financial information for external audits. This will involve substantial communication with principal investigators and researchers. We would like the secondment to start as soon as possible (no later than beginning of March and run for 6 months to the end of August).
