Research Interests

  • Developing more clinically reflective cell culture models for diabetes and cancer research.
  • Investigating the effects of microgravity cell culture for the improvement of three dimensional islet-cell cluster function and viability
  • Mimicking post-transplant in vivo conditions using a hypoxic environment to improve the outcome of pancreatic islet transplantation
  • Investigating the effects of low oxygen (hypoxia) on tumour drug resistance to advance cancer therapy
  • Biomaterial scaffolds for tissue replacement and drug delivery
