In 1990 Dr Gallacher jointly led the first group in the UK to report the production of catalytic antibodies. He is a leading authority in the field of catalytic antibodies. Dr Gallacher's background is in synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry.
Research Interests
- Synthetic Organic Chemistry - Design and synthesis of haptens, immunogens, prodrugs, and transition-state analogue inhibitors.
- Bio Organic Chemistry - Catalytic antibodies
- Medicinal Chemistry - Prodrugs and drug targetting (cancer).
- Immuno Chemistry - Generation of antibodies for the treatment of autoimmune
diseases and poisoning.
