Course types
The range of undergraduate course options at Brighton includes degrees, foundation degrees, HNDs, professional qualifications and 'top up' degrees.
Honours degree courses
These courses involve two, three or four years full-time study and lead to qualifications such as BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), BEng, MEng and MPharm.
Most of our courses involve work-based learning - through workshops, placements or a 'sandwich' year in the work place. Over half of our students also achieve a professional registration or exemption from professional exams when they graduate.
Foundation degrees
Foundation degrees are vocational qualifications which take two years full-time or 3 years part-time study to complete. They are designed with help from employers and equip students with the skills needed to flourish in a range of exciting careers. Foundation degrees are available across the subject range and are delivered at our partner colleges across Sussex and at the university. Find out more...
Professional courses
We offer a number of professional qualifications including pre-registration diploma courses in nursing and midwifery and the ACCA professional course in accountancy.
'Top up' degree courses
These courses typically this involve a year of full-time study and enable people to build on existing higher education or professional qualifications. Opportunities exist for HND and foundation degree holders as well as people holding professional qualifications in areas including nursing, midwifery and social work.
Engineering and construction foundation
This is one of the longest running and most successful courses of its type in the country. It provides access to engineering courses to applicants with non-scientific A-levels and mature students with relevant experience but few formal qualifications.
