Building the evidence base for musculo-skeletal research

Ann Moore, Professor of Physiotherapy at the University of Brighton, is catalysing change amongst the allied health professions through her work in creating an evidence base for musculo-skeletal research. In a move to underpin the work of allied health professionals and osteopaths, she looks into the efficacy of treatment and champions the use of exercise as an important form of treatment for lower back pain.

Crucial to her research is the introduction of a new approach to research trials, which enable health professionals to collect high quality and insightful data. As a result, health professionals will be able to develop treatment plans that are truly suited to a patient's needs.

Professor Moore's research profile has enabled the development of the Allied Health Professions Research Network. This provides a platform to encourage those in health care to strive towards new ways of working, and in particular to use evidence-based best practice treatments highlighted by her research and the research of others.
