Sport: investigating the power behind the passion
Alan Tomlinson is a professor of leisure studies at the University of Brighton and describes himself as an 'investigative researcher', the academic equivalent of the investigative journalist. He provides informed opinion and analysis, challenging the rhetoric and puncturing the myths widely associated with sport which he argues, "are sometimes peddled by very influential sports organisations and institutions".
Alan's research questions Olympic legacy and interrogates the motives of those who run global sports organisations and events. In this short film Alan demonstrates how his research in these key areas influences both global organisations and local communities.
