How to apply
Application direct to the University of Brighton
Applications for research degrees are made direct to the university through our Doctoral College.
The director of postgraduate studies for your subject area will be happy to offer advice on research proposals before a formal application is made.

The university cannot guarantee that students can start at their requested date unless deadlines are met.
- UK/EU students: The deadline for the university to receive applications for an entry date of October is the 1 August, for January entry it is the 1 November and for May it is the 1 March.
- International students: The deadline for the university to receive applications for an entry date of October is the 1 June, for January entry it is the 1 September and for May it is the 1 January.
Research in science, engineering or technology?
Please note that students planning to undertake research in science, engineering or technology disciplines will be required to apply for an Academic Technology Approval Scheme (84k pdf) clearance certificate.
