Research award: MPhil
MPhil candidates are required to critically investigate an approved supervised topic and to demonstrate a thorough understanding of research methods appropriate to their chosen field.
The research should show originality in the application of knowledge, and an understanding of how research contributes to the development of knowledge.
The average period of study for an MPhil is 2 years in full time mode and 3 years part time.
The length of an MPhil thesis is between 20,000 and 40,000 words depending on the subject area.
It is expected that where a thesis is accompanied by other material, such as exhibited work, it will be shorter in length.
