Dr Gary Philips

Dr Gary Phillips is the deputy director of postgraduate studies for Science and Engineering for the University of Brighton Doctoral College.

He is also a principle research fellow in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, with over ten years of experience.

Dr Gary Phillips currently leads the Biomedical Materials Research Group for research into biomimetic, bioresponsive and bioactive biomaterials. The research group has an international reputation in the field of advanced biomaterials for the replacement and regeneration of damaged or diseased tissues and the development of novel medical devices.

Gary's research interests include:

• Extracorporeal Blood Purification Systems
• Biomaterials and Biocompatibility
• Tissue regeneration
• Drug delivery to tumours
• Hypoxia and the cell response.
