Getting around Eastbourne

On foot

Eastbourne town centre and the seafront are both within walking distance of the university.

By bike

Students are encouraged to use bikes and other alternatives to car travel. Cycle cages and racks are provided on site.

By bus

You can catch the following buses from the Terminal Road bus stop outside Eastbourne train station:

  • 3, 4 - Meads area of Eastbourne via Darley Road
  • 711, 712, 714 - Brighton, via the A259 coast road
  • 728 - Brighton, via Falmer and Moulsecoomb

For further details on routes and fares see the East Sussex Stagecoach website.

By train

If you are travelling into Eastbourne for lectures remember that the price of a one-day return ticket can vary considerably - trains are more expensive if you travel before 9am. Although there is no student discount if you purchase a weekly or monthly ticket, it is still much better value to buy this kind of ticket if you have to get in for 9am lectures.

By car

For most students travelling to most sites, car use is not necessary. University car parks get very full and parking cannot be guaranteed. If you wish to park on university sites, you will need to obtain a sticker for your car window from the appropriate premises office.

Parking at the Eastbourne sites can be difficult. Please note that with the exception of six disabled car parking spaces, there are no car parking facilities provided at the student residences and you are strongly advised not to bring a car with you.
