Chelsea School Student Exhibition

30 students recently showcased their work at the Chelsea School Student Exhibition.

The exhibition invites final year and postgraduate to enter high quality work to be displayed and judged.

Mark Cooper, Chief Executive of the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf, gave the key note speech. He delivered a critical examination of the promises made to land the sporting world’s biggest prize: the right to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Special guest, Olympic medallist and activist Dr John Carlos also attended the event. Carlos gained worldwide attention at Mexico 1968 when he and fellow American Tommie Smith raised their fists and delivered their black-gloved ‘Black Power’ salute from the medals stand.

Awards were given to the following students:

• Head of School’s special award: Rachel Bean and Jemma Younghusband

• People’s Prize: Lee Andersen

• Routledge postgraduate award: Ben Duncan

• Undergraduate oral/media presentation: Adele de Bono

• Undergraduate written article: William Grey

• Undergraduate poster presentation: Tony Parfitt

• Postgraduate prize: Oliver Gibson

• Prize awarded for a piece of work related to a placement or work experience opportunity: Alexandra Botting

• Routledge progressing undergraduate student exhibition prize: Aaron Tucknott

• Highly commended: Anna O’Brien, Katherine Lake, Ewan McFarlane, Maxime Bradley, Ashley Wilmott, Georgina Roy, Carla Chapman, Rachel Bean, Jemma Younghusband, Gemma Anderson, Jordan Blackwell
