Stuart and four team-mates took turns to carry the baton from Seaford to Eastbourne before passing it to Rob. Rob then carried the baton from Eastbourne to Bexhill.
The Endurancelife Real Relay is an exciting attempt to follow the entire route of the official Olympic Torch around the British Isles in one continuous non-stop journey, running every step of the way.
The Real Relay starting out from Land’s End at midnight on Monday 28 May, ten days behind the official Olympic Torch. It has involved hundreds of runners from across the British Isles running through the day and night on an 8,000 mile mission to reach London in time for the Olympic Games opening ceremony.
Stuart says: “To know that the baton had been carried by hundreds of runners, non-stop, day and night, for 49 days resulted in a strong feeling of responsibility to ensure it continued on its long journey. I felt privileged to be involved in such an amazing event that demonstrates the true spirit of the Olympic Games and emphasises a sense of unity and the importance of taking part.”
