Football 4 Peace Training Camp

Published 22 March 2012

Chelsea School of Sport is once again hosting the annual training event for the 2012 Football 4 Peace Programmes between 23 – 27 March 2012.

Football 4 Peace aims to use sports and related recreational activities to build bridges between fractured communities in regions where political and ethno–religious divisions promote sectarian separation and conflict. Currently Football for Peace operates in Israel, Jordan and cross border in the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland.

The residential UK training camp is designed to prepare volunteers for the main programmes in the Middle East and Ireland.

Twenty five Arab and Jewish community sport leaders from Israel, eleven from Ireland, and three from Jordan will join 40 volunteer coaches recruited from across the UK to take part in this event, which consists of values–based football coaching sessions and team building exercises supported by a range of lectures and cultural activities.

The training camp will culminate in a Festival of Coaching on Monday 26 March focussing on children drawn from schools across East Sussex.
