Retail Marketing student opens fashion boutique

Published 27 September 2012

Whilst most students were relaxing during the summer before their last year, final year Retail Marketing BA(Hons) student Holly Newman opened her own ladies fashion boutique .

The shop is called With Love Boutique. It is located in South Street, Eastbourne and offers a 10 per cent student discount.

Holly felt that the two years she spent studying the course so far had given enough information needed to open her own boutique, so she wanted to get out to work straight away.

She said: “I wanted to open the shop because not only is it something that I have always wanted to do, but I was so fed up with Eastbourne having nothing for girls my age and I’m only 22!

“I have always been told that I had a good eye for fashion and was always trying to make money by doing things like selling sweets in the school playground for a profit at the age of 11.”

“I also love buying and shopping so for me to have the opportunity to buy the clothes and accessories that I love for my own boutique is the best job in the world.

“I have lived in the area for a while and was fed up of having to travel to London or Brighton to get clothes a little different. The degree has helped in terms of visual merchandising and social networking as well as other aspects such as advertising and marketing.”

There are clothes to suit all tastes in the shop, Holly said: “I have many brands including Forever Unique, Sugarhill Boutique, In Love With Fashion, Glamorous and Angeleye, and dresses that are seen on CelebBoutique. Many of these brands are exclusive to With Love Boutique in the local area.

“I also sell St Moriz fake tan, Eylure lashes shoes and accessories to complete the look. I have tops and day wear that range from £12-£50, so something for everyone! The dresses range from £18-250 for the designer brands.”

Despite owning the shop, Holly will shortly be starting her final year at university.
