Students completed navigation and survival scenarios. They also had their first experience of wild camping and stove cooking.

Senior lecturer Dr Alan Richardson explains the benefits of the expedition: “It really challenges the students to work as a team and takes them out of their comfort zone. They need to think for themselves but also consider the needs of others within the group. Such challenges really help develop the students’ confidence, cohesion and understanding of leadership.”

The expedition was lucky with the weather with temperatures rising above 20°C. Staff and students all enjoyed the challenge and are hoping for the same excellent weather conditions next year.
