Professor Jo Doust, Head of Chelsea School of Sport has demonstrated the school’s support for the Government Charter for Action: Tackling Homophobia and Transphobia in Sport.
The charter aims to make sport welcoming to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) participants and works to challenge homophobia and transphobia in all sports and at all levels.
The Rugby Football Union, Rugby Football League, British Tennis, English Cricket Board and The Football Association are all founding signatories. Chelsea School of Sport joins a list of organisations who have signed up including Cambridge University Sports Department, London Wasps Rugby Football Club, Notts County Football Club and Wycombe Wanderers Football Club.
Jayne Caudwell, senior lecturer at Chelsea School Sport said: “Sport is, and always has been, central to University of Brighton's activities. By signing this charter we are showing our commitment to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and our support for increasing LGBT participation in sport. This is an extremely important issue.”
