Camille Obligis
International Event Management BA(Hons)
I have decided to come to the University of Brighton because I thought it was responding to my needs; a place to study, to interact, to analyse, to meet people from different backgrounds and because it offered the course I wanted to do.
Strengths
One of the strengths of the course is that it offers a wide range of knowledge that the business environment ask for. I will be able to tell my employers that I know about marketing, economy, accountability, human resources and of course the events world, that is one of the fastest growing industries.
This course offers theoretical and practical background. During our second year, we had for assignment to organise an event and we managed to raise £4,000 for charity!
Supporting your aspirations
Thanks to the university network, I have had the opportunity to do lots of paid and unpaid work experience. There is lots of support; if you have a problem with your computer or bank account or you feel stress, the university can help you. Knowing that there are many services to support me has helped me through my whole university experience.
If you are considering studying event management, this university is for you. You will make new friends and have a great time, but will also develop your skills and learn to think outside the box. The University of Brighton gives you the aspirations to construct your own future!

Final year
I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and my plans for the future are to work for a year or two then go on to do a masters degree.
Good start
Long term, I would like to see myself starting my own business in events, possibly event tourism and I believe that the modules that I have taken here will give me a good start.
Good friends
I have made very good friends while studying here, not only from my course but from other courses too and I can see myself being friends with them for a long time to come.
Academic support
Whilst it would be unrealistic to say that there were no negatives, for me, the positives outweigh the negatives. The school has many helpful lecturers who care about the students, one such lectures has been my dissertation tutor who has been there to help when I have needed direction.
