Retail

Retail is one of the most challenging of all service industries yet the opportunities for employment in this sector are large.

In the UK, 11 per cent of the total workforce are employed in retail and it accounts for 24 per cent of national gross domestic product.

Graduate opportunities in retail include management, merchandising, marketing and logistics.

Our undergraduate retail courses offer opportunities to specialise in the marketing and management aspects of retail.

Graduates are equipped with transferable skills required across the retail sector, this includes fashion or food and drink.

We have forged strong links with industry through our placement programme, research and consultancy.

Industry representatives also advise on the content and development of our courses and contribute to teaching as guest lecturers.

Academic staff at the school come from a range of industrial backgrounds including food retail and fashion management.

Placements

On the undergraduate degree you will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience by taking a 48-week work placement between years two and three.

The completion of a placement-based final year project replaces the dissertation.

The placement will give you the opportunity to apply practical skills, gain hands-on experience and make industry contacts.
