What our placement students say
Becky Sutcliffe
International Travel Management BA (Hons)
Walt Disney World Resort - 2010/11
My placement will help me after I graduate as I have worked at one of the most successful companies in the travel and tourism industry.
I have found it interesting seeing out how Walt Disney World motivate their employees and the level of guest service they offer. Throughout my training, managers have gone out of their way to make me feel passionate about the company and how to make magical memories for guests.
After working for Walt Disney World, I know how to work under strict guidelines in a well-structured work place. My experience has also made me think about what I want to do as a career. That’s to work in human resources with recruitment and looking after the welfare of employees. When I apply for jobs after I graduate, I hope companies will see the skills and knowledge I have gained from working at Walt Disney World.
I have also taken two classes since I have been here through Central Michigan University in addition to my placement. From September to December, I studied Exploration of Disney Marketing. This was learning about how all the different departments of Disney market their product. This included guest speakers coming in every week to speak to us about their experiences.
From February to March, I studied Exploration of People Management, which I have found the most interesting, as this is what I want to do with my career. There were also many other subject options we can take.
Not only has working for Disney been a great experience but also moving half way across the world has helped me gain a lot of independence. I have learnt how to adapt in a new environment and have met people from around the world.
