Our teaching is informed by research and our tutors are regularly engaged in international research and consultancy projects that keeps their knowledge up-to-date. This will ensure you are exposed to some of the most current thinking in your subject area.

We are a founding partner in Football 4 Peace, which provides opportunities for social contact across community boundaries. There is the opportunity for you to take part in this and other projects throughout your time studying with us.

We have many links with other organisations as part of the accreditation of our courses including the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) and Institute of Travel and Meetings (ITM).

You will be taught by staff who are leading researchers and teachers at the forefront of their professions.

Head of School, Professor Jo Doust, is chair of BASES and non-executive director of the English Institute of Sport (EIS), Dr Gary Brickley is coach of the British Paralympic cycling team and Dr Marina Novelli and Professor Peter Burns have been advising the Gambian Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

Career-focused

Our focus is on your future career progression and how we will help you to achieve your career goals.  All courses include a range of key skills that employers find valuable in graduates.

Career planning is an integral part of the course along with placement opportunities and live simulation exercises.  Extracurricular activities including special lectures, careers events and employment workshops also allow you to enhance your employability.

90 per cent of School of Sport and Service Management graduates are either employed, self employed or continuing their studies approximately six months after leaving.

We want you to get the most of your time studying here.  We place a high value on the conversations we have with our students and ensure you have the opportunity for regular individual contact time with tutors. 

Tutors will provide the expertise and insight to ensure you are well prepared to meet the demands of each module.

Our degrees are structured to allow you the maximum flexibility to design your own personal programme of study, with expert guidance from your personal tutor and course leader. This allows you to tailor the course to your personal interests or career goals.

Facilities and campuses in outstanding locations

Considered the warmest and sunniest place in the UK, Eastbourne is a great place to study.  Our campus is home to 3,000 students and located less than 10 minutes walk from the beach at the foot of the South Downs National Park. 

You will have access to library, study and computing facilities as well as extensive access to electronic sources both on and off-site.

Sport facilities on campus include two journalism suites, laboratories accredited by BASES which are used by elite athletes, a new £750,000 fitness suite, a swimming pool, sports hall, artificial turf pitch and dance studios.
