CONTEXT

Celebrating United Nations International Year of Ecotourism and Year of the Mountains, the main aim of the symposium is to explore the interrelationships between the environment, tourism and recreation, with specific emphasis on impacts, management and planning issues.

Objectives:

  • To encourage discussion amongst environment, recreation and tourism academics, practitioners and government agencies
  • To foster debate on issues regarding the use of the environment for leisure, recreation and tourism consumption
  • To explore best practice for tourism and recreation in natural settings
  • To set research agendas and frameworks for future research on the environment, recreation and tourism
