Sport in International Relations
Sport and International Relations (SIR) is a key theme within the school's research culture. It draws together a diverse group of internationally recognised scholars working in areas such as Sport for International Development and Peace; Sport and International Labour Migration, Globalisation and Comparative Sport Cultures; Sport, International Politics and Diplomacy; Sport and Global Governance; International Football Fan-Cultures; and International Tourism and Sustainable Development. Researchers employ innovative interdisciplinary approaches, combining sociological, political, anthropological and historical perspectives.
Many of those involved in this theme are leaders in their fields who have published an impressive portfolio of journal articles and highly regarded books. The research projects and activities of this group underpin a vibrant postgraduate research environment at both Masters and Doctoral levels.
