Retail and Consumer Studies group (RCSG)


The RCSG was established in 2004 by Chris Dutton and Harvey Ells in response to the School of Service Management's growing research capability in the field of retail operations, marketing and consumer studies.The group has an established track record of providing expert advice and consultancy to a wide range of local and national organisations with a particular emphasis on regional retail SMEs and independent fashion stores under the guidance of Susan Bishop. The appointment of Dr Ricky Mitchell has further strengthened our research capability when engaging with retail SMEs. The retail industry continues to make a significant contribution to both national and international economies. It also provides an exciting, dynamic and highly challenging working environment as recently highlighted by the Portas Review. The retail and Consumer Studies Group places itself at the leading edge of applied research, innovation and consultancy.
