Main interests

Between 2003-2011 my primary role was the co-ordination and development of Making Research Count Brighton, a subscription-based partnership with local authorities developing evidence-informed practice in social work, social care and the interfaces with health and education.

My broader research interests, alongside this programme, have been older people and care practice, including projects on the prevention and personalisation agendas. More recently I have developed an interest in dementia, particularly the maintenance of identity and personhood and the involvement of people with dementia in creative activities. I am working in partnership with other academics and practitioners developing a project working creatively with people with dementia using dance. The results of a short pilot study on this were published in 2012.
