Ezekiel Garang
Masters in Public Administration
The first graduate from our Masters in Public Administration, Ezekiel Garang, has returned to his home country of Sudan to work on a United Nations development programme. Ezekiel came to the university through the British Council's Chevening Scholarship Programme having previously worked for the UN in Sudan where he took part in efforts to demobilise, disarm and reintegrate ex-combatants. Having experienced a state of civil war for 22 years from 1983 to 2005, this work involved working with Sudanese people across the generations and attending to the particular needs of women and child combatants.
Ezekiel recently wrote to us providing his reflections on the Masters in Public Administration (MPA). "Doing the MPA at the University of Brighton has introduced me to new ways of tackling a wide range of challenging public, private and non-governmental organisational issues. My interest was to explore how government, civil society and non-governmental organisations deliver services so that they reach their targeted beneficiaries and how to address challenging issues associated with the betterment of these services,” explains Ezekiel.
"Doing this course in the UK has given me a reference point in terms of comparing issues and analysing them from an international perspective. The level of support from the university and the structure and organisation of the course was exceptional and I believe that the University of Brighton is one of the best universities offering this course in the UK."
