Prospective students

The School of Applied Social Science provides education at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as vocational and post-qualification courses for social workers and other professionals working in the field.

We are committed to giving students a high quality education which includes academic knowledge and professional and vocational skills. Continuing Professional Development

Modules from the school's postgraduate post-experience programmes can also be taken on an individual basis for continuing professional development purposes. See details of the faculty's Graduate Programme in Health and Social Sciences

We provide approved social worker training for West Sussex, East Sussex County Council and Brighton and Hove.

We provide a Foundation Degree in Substance Misuse Intervention Strategies, in partnership with the three Sussex Drug and Alcohol Action Teams.

We also conduct workshops in research methods and provide for the management needs of NHS and social services staff jointly with the Faculty of Management and Information Sciences.

There is a strong international dimension to our courses and exchange schemes are in place with Madrid, Granada, and Orebro.

Research study

The Social Science Policy and Research Centre, based within the school, provides a base for full and part-time students working for research degrees at MPhil and PhD level.
